Virtual Magic Kingdom… a promotion?? Yeah, right. May 1, 2008
So I’ll start with this simple and very true statement.
I’m genuinely pissed off.
So about… maybe a month ago (?) Disney announced that they were planning to close Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK), an online game designed to be like a virtual theme park, where players interact though trading, building rooms, playing games, and more. I’ve played this game for about 2 and a half years.
Disney’s main statement in response to all of the drama following the announcement was something along the lines of “it was a promotion only intended to last through the 50th Anniversary Celebration. All good promotions must come to an end, blah, blah, blah.”
I’m sorry. Did you say VMK was only a promotion?
Well lets look at VMK’s past shall we?
When did anyone over there ever say it was just a temporary promotion? You should have told us in the beginning.
Not only that, but the 50th Anniversary ended 2 years ago, where have you been? If it was supposed to end 2 years ago, how come VMK has been live and online (and extremely successful, I might add) for 3 years. Whats up with that?
“We do have hundred of other free games on Disney.com”. I read that in an article about VMK just a few minutes ago. Yes, you do have free “games”. That is, if you want to be playing Disney’s version of concentration, mah jong, or text twist. Theres a difference between an online game and a virtual world. A big difference.
Oh yeah, and aren’t promotions supposed to have written guidelines that include starting and ending dates? Aren’t promotions like contests?
And aren’t there rides that were part of the 50th Anniversary that were “promotions” for the event?
Why are they still open?
This is unfair, but simply, Disney’s response to the tons of kids that are upset (and by the way, VMK has over 1 million players) is “Frankly my dears, we don’t give a damn”.
So why would disney shut down VMK?
Is it the money? Is it the “promotion”? Is it that they are low life meanie butts?
We don’t know.

A Role Model?? I think not. April 29, 2008
So I was checking my email on Yahoo! this morning, and also, as normal, looking at the headlines and all the featured stuff. One again, that person is in the news… and also not for a good reason. Who?
Miley Cyrus
Now, I will admit, she’s funny, and I used to be a fan. Honestly, I did. However, I’ve totally grown out of Disney Channel and sitcoms like “Hannah Montana”. However, I found one little problem with that video…
They called her a role model. Wait a minute. She can still be called a role model?? Now I know what you’re thinking, everybody makes mistakes. Heck, she has a freaking song about it. Nevertheless, she is like the tween idol right now, so even little mistakes suck. (Well all mistakes suck… I mean they ARE mistakes… messups, typos, problems… uh… where am I going with this? Oh yeah) Anyways, it started with that photo scandal with her and a friend (and I quote) “frolicking in a hotel hallway”. Yeah, those pics were NOT a pretty sight to see. Then of course, there was the “green bra and wannabe thug boyfriend” scandal. I never understood that. She’s also got a YouTube account where she makes videos with someone named Mandy… I dont know who Mandy is really, just tat they are friends. However, the problem I have with her PERSONAL videos isn’t so much that she acts inappropriate, but its that she… well, you make the judgement. (http://www.youtube.com/mileymandy) Also, theres tons of crap all over the internet of her acting like a slut and just not being a role model at all. I’m not trying to totally trash her. She’s successful and on the right path with her career, but shes not on the right path with her behavior.
Panic! At the Disco – New Album April 28, 2008
So Panic!’s new album, Pretty. Odd., came out a little while ago. I absolutely lvoe it. Why? Well these guys are totally going down the Beatles’s same path with this release The music is just like a Lennon/McCartney modern-day masterpiece. They even have it down to the ringing bell from “Penny Lane”. ANYWAYS, if I’m making any sense at all so far, just try to stay with me. I was on YouTube cuz… well I’m sick today. Boohoo. And I saw the music video for “Nine in the Afternoon” (from the new album)… take a look:
Sweet, huh? Notice the animal masks? Magic Mystery Tour! It was weird. It was fun. It was creepy. It was Panic. It was…
a total Beatles remake.
So yes. This is why I LOVE what’s happening with the new album. BUY IT OR DIE!

AHHH this is hard.
